Demystifying Math Struggles & Identifying Strategies to Help

teaching mathSome children excel in every class, but math has a way of getting the best of them. This is for the reason that the hardest subject most teachers have to teach by the book is Mathematics. While some children might be excelling at math; several may be failing, and others might just be able to pass the requirements. Nonetheless, teaching math effectively means communicating in many different ways to have the skills and modes of thinking. It is vital to identify all math struggles and then find different strategies to make sure children learn math.

Since Math is a hard subject for most children, a teacher cannot let the students just follow a textbook, as this is only part of the information needed to solve the Math problems correctly.

A question some teachers might want to ask themselves when it comes to teaching; should I follow the same traditional method while teaching math to all children? All educators should strive to teach for understanding of the mathematical concepts. Understanding, as I am sure most realize, it does not always come immediately, it may even take several grasps but with determination and the right teaching methods, a child will finally get an understanding. Teaching math to kids is very hard to learn even when teachers are trying to explain a simple solution to a math problem.

Math is a difficult subject it is extremely different from English or Science – or even History – for the reason that Math is the merely subject that distributes two characteristics:

1. Students must begin at the beginning and continue to create from what they have learned in the prior lesson.

2. There is no such thing as a partially correct answer; an answer is 100% right or 100% wrong.

In classes such as History, students can start at anywhere and study just that individual part of the subject. In English, there are some degrees of correctness and estimations as it may differ as to what is correct. But not in Math: Math is exact and requires precise execution. The answers are either right or wrong.

The Five Pros and Cons of being a Stay-at-Home Mom

The study shows that a number of experts in child development feel there is no replacement for the devotion and motherly love that mothers gives, especially if the alternative is a unstable, and poorly managed childcare. However, when faced with the dilemma to stay home with the children or go to work, it is not always an easy decision.

As a matter of fact, one would think that a stay-at-home parent live the life of luxury, but that is not truth a stay-at-home parent can sometimes feel as if they are trapped juggling many responsibilities. However, when a mother gives birth to a child she wants the best for her child. A mother always wishes that life’s greatest opportunities be offered to her child.

Working mother -VS- stay-at-home mother

Many working females need to make a difficult decision of whether to focus on earning money equal to two incomes or stay at home looking after the child/children to ensure they are given proper care. With the cost of living continuing to rise it is not an easy decision. But one thing for sure as a stay-at-home mom, odds are you will always be available when your child needs you as opposed to the child being stuck in a low-quality daycare. The Five Pros of staying at home

#1 Spend less money: Working in the American corporate world, an individual must maintain the job. She must dress and look presentable, wear professional clothing, keep hair, nails and makeup, and simultaneously take care of bills and weekly gas expenses. It can be surprising how much money it costs to get through a weekly routine of fulfilling a job.

#2 Sometimes Females feel unfulfilled: Just taking care of the children, cooking, laundry, and grocery shopping just isn’t enough to make her feel complete, she needs more. She needs her own income to be able to feel complete.

Jamie Foxx, a Multi-talented One Man Superstar

Jamie FoxxThis Award-winning American comedian had a childhood that was a mixture of sweet and bitter experiences. Foxx was born on 13th December 1967 as Eric Bishop in Terrell, Texas, a town that had a population of about fourteen thousand. He was born to a very young couple, Shaheed Abdulla, and Louise Annette Talley, who soon got overwhelmed by the demands and responsibility of parenthood due to their extremely young ages. When Foxx was seven months old, he was adopted by his mother’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Talley. Mrs. Talley had very strong influence on him, and the great entertainer gives his grandmother credit for inspiring him in life. According to Foxx, in his interview with Josh Tyrangiel of Time, his grandmother adopted him at 60. She had a nursery school she was running and maintained a nice library at home. She saw her grandson’s early interest in books and believed he was intelligent enough to achieve great feats and reach great heights in life.

One night while growing up, Foxx had an experience that would alter the entire course of his life when he indicated interest to work as a fill-in comedian in a Santa Monica comedy house. With a TV crew filming a special HBO edition, he wrote four different fake female names on the registration sheet to increase his chances of performing since he noticed the MCs favored the female performers more than their male counterparts. When he was called, the name Eric Bishop became lost, and he became known as Jamie Foxx. He was so successful with his comedy career at the club that he stopped all day jobs and performed seven nights every week.

America has produced quite many talented African-America celebrities, but some stand tall above others. One of the Male talents that have graced the TV screens of Americans for quite some time now is the legendary and multi-talented Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx has worked as a comedian, with music as a singer and an actor for several years, but his massive breakthrough and fame did not come until around 2005. In the 90s, Foxx was only known for his ability to mimic almost everybody in the entertainment world as a stand-up comedian. He was a regular face on TV shows and had his very own comedy show which debuted in 1996 and ended in 2001.

Eventually, he joined the American movie industry and starred in some unmemorable projects like the 1997 Booty Call. However, that was not the best Foxx had to offer. In 1999, he put up a more admirable performance in a more significant production, Any Given Sunday produced by Oliver Stone. His stint in the movie world continued with one role after another until 2005 when he made Hollywood history after he became the first Black man to be nominated for two Academy Awards in one year. He was nominated for the roles in Collateral and Ray. At 37, Jamie Foxx grabbed the desirable Best Actor Oscar and became the third Black man ever to win the great gold statue.

After he had conquered his local entertainment scene, he needed to go out and conquer the American TV world. In the year 1991, Foxx joined other hundreds of TV hopefuls to audition for a new comedy series. He obtained a role and was on the comedy series, “In Living Colors” from 1991 to 1994 when the show was taken off the TV screens. Foxx became known for a number of things such as his ability to impersonate and mimic perfectly as well as his characters, especially the one called Ugly Wanda which like most of his other characters was both original and outrageous.

Stop Waiting for things to Happen. Go out and Make them Happen

stop waiting for things to happenAcross the world, there are millions of people with an excellent project in mind, but they are putting no effort to put things in action. Why fantasize about a project and sit around waiting until it takes a turn for the worse? Perhaps it is because you like to dream big and be hopeful but to receive benefits and rewards it needs to be put into action.

Having information, which is backed up with hard work is the ingredient that ensures an excellent result. While you love to talk, rewards come to those who make things happen.

If there is one thing in life that does not work, it is to sit around talking about something with no action. Always bear in mind that your time is wasted doing nothing with unproductive thinking because another person can use the same time working productively putting things into action and make some things happen.

It is important for me to emphasize this because nowadays thinking about riches is what brings the downfall of the family; you are sitting and dreaming about good fortune, and at the same time you let opportunities pass you by with no action.

In other words, acting upon an idea is the only way you will achieve happiness and become successful. You will not achieve anything if you are spending your days at home, stressing out and not managing your problems. You need to make the move and not deceive yourself that things will fall from the sky.

Have in mind one thing: To get somewhere, you need to get out of the chair and start using your legs! All of us have our own flaws; it is not an excuse to be idle and watch life, and its hardships pass us by without doing something about them. It is within our reach to turn things around.

Do not allow yourself to be the slave of the things around you, instead take charge of them. Have in mind that the time that you use for thinking is the same time other people use to do something productive, so it’s time to act upon it and make things happen.

If you don’t have enough information about anything, it just might be a good option for you to pass on the opportunity. In some cases, you can use idle time in your favor by improving your skill set. Use this period briefly because you need to have in mind that it is only for a short while and that you need to return “into the game” as soon as possible.

Now view your time while sitting and thinking in the period of uncertainty and prepare to remove that thin line between faith and folly. We can depend on God because He will help us to gain affirmation as a tool to create action. Don’t forget, while you’re sitting there thinking about it someone else is out there making thing happen.

During the time you are using to prepare your next move, set free from all the doubts that you have in your heart. God will always show us the way and in our time of need he will be our inspiration of light. Always have in mind that the time that you use for empty thoughts is the same time another person uses to make things happen.

The Advice I Would Give to My Younger Self If I Could

3_dear-younger-selfGrowing up was not the best experience for me. Although, a childhood should be one of the most memorable and enjoyable times in every child’s life, I did not receive the best experience with it. My father was a preacher, and he did not allow me to go outside to play freely as much as other children, and early in life I developed a poor self-esteem.

The only two places I was truly free to go to were school and church. Do not misunderstand me, I love attending church and “don’t nobody” love God as much as I do. But let’s be honest a child needs a little bit more in their life because it is not as much fun from the perspective of a young child

Family upbringing plays a significant role in giving a good or bad experience to any child’s childhood. In spite of an unpleasant childhood, I am grateful I had an intelligent mother who paid attention to me, I still grew up with a healthy atmosphere around me. But because I spent most of my time inside, I had to find ways to entertain myself inside the house. Therefore, I developed a very creative imagination.

By the time I reached middle school, I was learning how to interact with other children my age. Also, I developed a high self-esteem because I had the best mother in the world any child could ever need. She always paid attention to that developing self-esteem and always knew how to make everything better.

She made sure I had an impressive appearance and taught me to be conscientious about my appearance. She taught me how to fold my dress when I sat down. Most of all, she shared with me her wisdom. She taught me to “always love who and what you are.” I understood that it is great to love someone else, but it is even better when you love yourself.

How to Maximize the Furniture in a Small Living Space

Living in a townhouse, an apartment, or a condominium can sometimes mean having to fit a lot of items into rooms too small Furnitureto hold them all at first glance. Dark furniture and furniture that needs a lot of leg room often seem to block passages and take up more floor space than is desirable. When choosing furniture for such a space, we have to pay close attention to the weight and the size of the objects. The question of how many pieces have legs and how many have a box shape is also an important factor in finding the right furniture. Believe it or not, even the color of the furniture makes a difference: furniture in lighter colors goes further in making your small space feel larger than those in darker colors can.
